The Boy with Wings
Award-winning theatre company ‘Birdlife Productions’ promise laughter, tears and thrilling adventure when a young man’s epic journey unites with the miracle of Kuaka/Bar-tailed Godwit migration, asking the question; “how do we trust our inner map - how do we find our own wings?” This is a comic, touching, and environmental tale using puppetry, storytelling, songs, and exquisite hand-crafted sets, designed for children ages 5 to 9 (school years 1 to 4).
After learning some basic skills, the workshop participants then become part of the band, performing with The Nukes in a fun entertaining show. The workshops are for kids of any level of playing ability that combine a mix of ukulele, dancing and singing. Aotearoa’s most beloved and enduring ‘original ukulele trio’ have been wowing audiences up and down Aotearoa and Australia for over a decade. They have performed at events as diverse as Arts and Folk festivals to WOMAD as well as inspiring thousands of school kids throughout the country. The Nukes recently won the best NZ children’s music video award for their tune ‘worms’. Kiwiana, humour, fantastic song-writing, great musicianship and singing.
