AOTEAROA NZ

The Eastern is a string band that roars like a punk band, swings like a gospel band, drinks like a country band, works like a bar band, hopes like folk singers, sings love songs like union songs and writes union songs like love songs, and wants to slow dance and stand on tables, all at the same time.

Founded upon the songs of Adam McGrath (2024 NZMA’s folk artist of the year) and banjo legend Jess Shanks, The Eastern continues to prove they are a band of brothers and sisters you can’t help but believe in.

Opening for The Eastern will be Li'l Chuck, the one man skiffle machine — an authentic one man band performing 'good time music with old time style'. Blessed with the ability to handle multiple instruments at a time, he is the master of coordination: blowin', suckin' and pluckin' simultaneously!

He cranks out the harmonica, resonator guitar, kick drum, hi-hat, kazoo and vocals to give the audience a rollicking good time.
